Blast Search

Query a nucleotide or protein sequence against a database of nucleotide or protein sequences.

Note 1: BlastP and BlastX searches take a very long time to run on the database of ALL protein sequences (~1 to 2 minutes per sequence). Please consider limiting your search to a specific species if you would like to reduce the amount of time it takes.

Note 2: The Expect value (E) is a parameter that describes the number of hits one can "expect" to see by chance when searching a database of a particular size. Therefore, an E-value for a specific alignment from a single-strain database search will be different from the E-value returned from the all-strains database search.

1) Select a Blast+ program

BLASTN BLASTP BLASTX TBLASTN TBLASTX

2) Specify custom search parameters (optional)

3) Select one or more organisms to search

Include all genomes Only include complete genomes

4) Enter your sequence in FASTA format
