Product

Feature Type CDS
Coding Frame 1
Product Name
dehydrocarnitine CoA transferase, DchB
Product Name Confidence: Class 1
CommentDeletion of dhcB or transposon insertions into the coding sequence result in a strain unable to grow using L-carnitine as a sole carbon source. DhcB is predicted to form a complex with DhcA which functions to deacetylate 3-dehydrocarnitine generating acetyl-CoA and glycine betaine CoA. Deletion of the dhcAB operon results in complete loss of carnitine-dependent CoA utilization from cytoplasmic extracts compared to cytoplasm from wild-type cells.;Transcription of the dhcAB operon is regulated by the transcription factor DhcR.
Evidence for Translation
Identified using nanoflow high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) in conjunction with microelectrospray ionization on LTQ XL mass spectrometer (PMID:24291602).
Charge (pH 7) -8.37
Kyte-Doolittle Hydrophobicity Value 0.243
Molecular Weight (kDa) 23.2
Isoelectric Point (pI) 4.57
